How it all started
On October 7, 1984, a small group of believers began meeting together at South Side School, dreaming of a church where people could experience the freedom of following Christ. Their focus was on reaching lost people with the love of Jesus.
Over time, that group of 50 people grew, and the current Effingham campus on Veterans Drive was dedicated on November 8, 1987. New people kept coming, drawn to Christ-focused, Bible-centered teaching and the welcoming spirit of the congregation.
In 2016 Christ's Church launched a second campus in Flora. We are now one church in two locations, with five different services, all united in reaching out to people, leading them towards Christ, and helping them to grow in His likeness.
In the summer of 2020, a group began researching the possibility of expanding the school to include additional grades. It was soon decided to open Discovery Christian School in the fall of 2021 on the Christ’s Church 10 acre campus.
Following the launch of Discovery Christian School, Christ's Church continued to grow. Our CCKids area was running out of space, and the school continued to grow and need more space as well. In 2023, we added on to the kids wing to create room for growth.
